it would have been painted with a number for the congregation

The Smaller: 40” wide x 13” deep x 9” high

but the tall hat may have influenced it with narrow curved brim worn by gentlewomen when horse riding

and there is a crack to one of the lower knob handles

The piece still manages to be symmetrical and this is testament to the skill of its craftsman
